The goal of Liturgical Ministry is to support
and enrich the liturgical life of the faith community.
Training for these various ministries is usually done in the fall.
ALTAR
SERVERS
Altar Servers are
young men and women, fifth grade and above, who assist the priest at
Mass.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
The Children's Liturgy of the Word, is a catechetical
program offered to children aged 4 through the 2nd grade. During Mass children are invited to hear the Word
proclaimed for them in a way they can understand.
HOSPITAL MINISTERS
Parishioners participating in this important ministry bring
communion and caring support to the homebound, nursing home residents and those who are hospitalized.
The hospitals are visited on a rotating basis with each minister going two days each turn. The homebound
have a specific minister assigned to them for as long as the service is needed.
A Mass is recorded each weekend; so in addition to communion and prayer, the homebound are offered a tape of the Mass.
This is a well-received and welcome service to those that receive it.
HOSPITALITY MINISTERS
Hospitality Ministers welcome parishioners as they enter the
church for Mass as well as help out during the Mass by coordinating the offertory collection, bringing up the gifts, and more.
LECTORS
Lectors are adult volunteers who read the weekly scripture readings at Mass.
MINISTERS OF COMMUNION
Ministers of Communion help distribute the Eucharist during Mass.
MONEY COUNTERS
Money counters are adult volunteers who meet on Monday mornings to prepare the offertory for bank deposit.
MUSIC MINISTRY
Music ministry are volunteers who participate in one of our choirs and/or lead
the singing at Mass. To learn more about this ministry click on Music ministry
NURSERY ASSISTANTS
At this time a nursery is available to care for children ages 6 months
to 5 years during the 11:00 AM Sunday Mass and at special services and activities.
When you use the nursery we ask that you register your child
in our book and that you put a nametag (provided) on your child and his/her belongings. We will gladly accept an occasional donation
of Cheerios (the plan ones) or baby wipes.
Although we have a paid coordinator the bulk of our helpers are volunteer parents (Dads accepted, too!), grandparents and teenagers. If you use the nursery we would appreciate your
volunteering to help with staffing. A schedule is made every three months and you will rarely work more than twice in that period.
We are looking forward to serving you and welcoming you to our parish family.
SACRISTANS
Sacristans coordinate the altar preparation before Mass each week including
preparing the hosts and wine to be used in the Eucharist, cleaning the altar linens and towels as needed. They also help clean up
after Mass.
