MUSIC
MINISTRY
Music is an important
part of our parish's spiritual life. Music is a part of all weekend
liturgies, Holy Days, as well as other
parish family celebrations and events. Our music ministry is very involved
in participation at Diocesan celebrations such as Renew, Ordinations,
and Chrism masses. We have hosted and we encourage attendance at music
oriented workshops and clinics. Members of our choirs and instrumentalists
have been able to further their music education through the help of
the Diocesan Grace Fund.
The Formal Choir rotates through each of the three
weekend liturgies. The Formal Choir
is accompanied by organ and flute, but any other instrumentalist is
gladly welcome for special liturgies throughout the Church year.
The Children's Choir is open to children in grades
4 through 8. This choir sings traditional, Gospel, and contemporary
music and is scheduled at a weekend liturgy once a month.
The Teen Choir is open to youth in grades 7 through 12th.
This choir also is scheduled at a weekend liturgy once a month.
A Cantor or songleader
leads the music at liturgies when a choir is not singing. The songleader
is accompanied by organ, piano, or guitar. The Accompanist and Cantor/Songleader must
have some music experience in liturgies in order to lead the congregation
confidently and to facilitate congregational participation in singing
at liturgies. If more information is needed contact the director of music.
