FINANCE
COUNCIL
The Finance Council
acts as a resource to the pastor, offering council and advice. The council
monitors parish offertory collections/income and expenses. The members
also maintain an ongoing evaluation of the overall parish financial
status. In the case of extraordinary (non-budgeted) expenditures, they
evaluate the feasibility and determine the best sources of funds to
pay for necessary proposals. They also monitor in/out transactions,
such as secondary diocesan collections, mission offerings, etc., to
ensure that these monies are properly reported and dispersed.
They will recommend
the most prudent use of monies and assets the parish is authorized to
retain, so as to maximize their potential and use in parish ministries.
They also make budget recommendations of monies to be allocated to replacement
reserves for parish equipment and responsible for parish capital improvement
budget.
The Finance Council
will meet with the Pastoral Council twice a year to share the financial
condition of the church. However, throughout the process the Finance
Council will maintain contact and have intimate discussions with the
Pastoral Council and Stewardship Committee.
SERVICE TO OTHERS COMMITTEE
This Committee was commissioned by the Parish Pastoral
Council to continue Christ's ministry of service within both the parish and the local community. One significant
outgrowth of this committee is the Samaritan Group. This committee has also worked to coordinate parish support of
the Committee on Church Cooperation (CCC) including an ecumenical brunch., with proceeds going to CCC for medicines.
Also, this committee coordinates participation in Rebuilding Together, formerly known as Christmas in April.
We continue to explore other opportunities for parishioners to participate in the ministry of service.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE
One of the major goals of our parish mission statement is to grow as a family of faith. Parish social events enhance
this in so many beneficial ways. This committee coordinates annual and special occasions such as First Communion and Confirmation receptions, parish picnics, Lenten meals,
advent receptions, Holiday dinner, St. Joseph's altar and St. Patrick's Day meal to name a few. Social Activities are a great way to
meet and interact with all members of the parish. Please consider helping with an event! The goal is to utilize all that are interested
in this area of service.
STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
The Stewardship Committee challenges parishioners to make choices that revere Christ concerning the
use of our time, talents, and treasure. The committee consists of designated members of the Finance Council, Pastoral Council, and
interested others. They have presented several seminars. The annual Stewardship Pledge Drive is conducted in November at which a
committee member addresses parishioners on how to be stronger stewards. Weekly bulletins contain ideas on how to live as good
stewards of God's gifts.
WELCOME COMMITTEE
This committee was formed in March 1999
as a fruit of the RENEW program. Folders are compiled and given to new members when they are visited
by committee members and Catholic neighbors to aquaint newcomers with the parish family as well as the larger community.
New members are encouraged to attend our Welcome Sunday coffee and doughnuts events.
WORSHIP COMMITTEE
The Worship Committee's primary function is two-fold.
They oversee the liturgical ministries, especially the training of new ministers. They also strive to enhance
the environment, especially during the liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.
